I can not reproduce this on my machine, though I do think the commands could be renamed to be clearer about what they do.

takescreenshot is a helper alias in data/config/legacy.cfg

The screenshots taken in the console appear dark because it manages to catch the console overlay 
The overlay doesn't simply vanish after you close the prompt, it slowly fades out. That's the problem here.
Just don't use that.
