Well, it is a compromise of keeping it simple, maintainable and somewhat useful. Other menus do the same with different priorities. But with some more experimenting (wording, layout etc) and maybe one or two new cubescript hooks (will request the enhancements on github later) this could become another piece of the puzzle to revamp the editing menus.
By the way, I think iceflower is working on some other editing menus (saving the map and displaying crc, map revision etc.).
