I always thought the checkboxes in Red Eclipse were too flat, so I made new ones.
If you like them, I can make radio buttons like these.

If you want to replace the icons, we'll need then other UI elements done too. These look nice on the forum, but they seem overly "sharp" in comparison to the rest of the textures used for menus.

Some buttons are tinted red when hovered -- I think exit button is always tinted red.

Hey that's adds a really nice touch to the gui. Feels more polished, i would love to see it in release.
I'd imagine the exit button is hard coded to turn red when selected.

Also note that I removed the GUI's background and borders. These are the commands to do so:

I also changed my scoreboard (which we do not see here), but if you want to try it out:

It'll get done eventually. I'm not exactly developing full time at the moment, been helping Cinta with the kids.

Instead of changing the colour to red when hovering over an interactive GUI element, maybe we could have a glowy version of each texture. Want to do that?

Just updated SVN, very happy to see these were included. My only concerns are the known issue with the exit button, and maybe some more saturation might be needed for the inner colors of the boxes and buttons. Right now, the red and purple are kind of light.

Possibly the current, lighter versions could be used as the hover glow?

I will need to test them further, as I fear the difference between glowing and non-glowing won't be so noticeable in-game. But to test them, I need Quin to add support for hover textures.

Let's not get radical here, guys. If Quin would refuse to put my name in the credits (Which I doubt he'd do), I'd be fine but very disappointed with it. I just want my name in the credits so that people know that this guy put efforts into making this great game. Does anyone know the story behind the Konami code, by the way?

Under no circumstances would I ever refuse to credit someone for their work; the whole point of Red Eclipse is to, in fact, encourage it. I would just like to be sure what we are currently doing is actually what will end up in the next release, which is the only time I really need to finalise something like this. Yes I will be crediting acerspyro for their work, once we are done. Just the act of participating in development has earned him a spot in the readme credits already.

Things are probably moving slower at the moment than some people are used to as well. I will make hover textures the target of my next coding session, it's just a matter of when I have the time and energy for it. Everyone should probably know that the medication I take for my bipolar disorder does influence my ability to code like I did, because I channeled most of my manic energy into it; which is something I have far less of these days. Add to that I'm looking for a place to live, spending time with my family, etc. It's been hard finding a moment where I have both time and energy. It won't always be this way, I just need a little stability.

Just updated SVN to see this, glad to see a lot of changes have gone through. As for the hover textures, they look great and work quite well. As for the exit button, I agree that it should have more saturation or something, the hover doesn't do much for it rn.

I noticed, but as we aim buttons from the very corner of the cursor, I can't do much better than this as if I would center he cursor more, we would not click at the right place. Consider these:
- Once resized, the chopped-off shadow won't be noticeable.
- The old pointer (I think?) had the same problem.
- If I make my shadow smaller, it won't be noticeable once resized.
