You might want to reconsider the square edges. The over use of the rock texture also leaves the level looking very bland and indistinctive, the use of blend maps on the traversable areas would probably alleviate this problem as they allow you to "paint" one texture onto another. Other things you can use to break up the monotony are environmental features like lights, buildings, and map models.
