Some of you certainly remember all those custom race maps with a slide theme. Maybe even one of them had exactly this same map title, I don't remember. But this one is different. Really different.
I wanted to create a slide-themed map that uses current mechanics and does not rely on falling down a super steep slope, but forces the player to perform impulse slides on a vcoastscaled
surface, while checkpoints provide a good supply of energy.
And I intended to make it fast. As fast as possible. Which lead to a big surprise: Sliding uphill is much
more effective than sliding downhill
So, this is sort of a reverse slide. And boy, this is a real frenzy once you figure out the right angle to chain your slides.
Version 0.1 is a preview with focus on gameplay. Textures and decorations are rather crude, and I'm not sure if and how I'll polish this. But I think with those big mapmodels you get a good feeling for the scale and speed. The slide is some 1'300m long with a difference in altitude of about 900m, followed by a jump of more than 100m. This can be done in 18 seconds, maybe less.
That's how much in average, 280 km/h?!
