I am new to the game, but I feel like the sniper is quite useless on most maps, if u buffed it to have better range it would be good but, Id still rather have a new weapon. An Idea for a weapon I have thought of is, a bow, It would have fast reload speed and quite a bit of damage but it would be hard to aim, this bow would be similar tosome characters in Overwatch but of course not a copy. When you right click it could launch an explosive arrow or an arrow with a fragmentation grenade on the tip of it. Id like to know what Red Eclipse thinks! :?:

Short answer: lolno

Long answer: For one, the rifle is actually one of the most OP weapons in the game, simply because of how easy it is to get good at it and land one-hit shots almost every single time.
Secondly, adding another weapon would mean yet another gun to balance into the mix. I personally think the Zapper was one weapon too many and it has no place in the game other than to annoy people, but that's just an opinion so take it with a grain of salt.

Bah, rifle is too easy to use (the statistics don't lie ). If it had some sort of recoil after firing (let's say, it goes into a random direction some pixels), it would be WAY more balanced than the current version, that you just look and shoot, plaft, dead.
The zapper im planning to propose a new way of how it Works, so it will play closely as the Lighting gun from Quake 3 Arena, as primary fire right now it's useless, inacurrate, takes ages to kill, so only the secondary is effective, but in a hallway/ when someone is running in a straight line.
Regarding new weapons, there's this poll from 1 year ago around here, but i don't know if it is still considered highly by qreeves and others : viewtopic.php?f=4&t=681&hilit=weaponweapon

The rifle is certainly not easy to use, it isn't hitscan so there's a travel time and you need to lead your shots. The original Cube 2 source actually has that random recoil thing and I honestly don't like it (hence it was removed early on in the project); Red Eclipse is very sensitive to your aim direction for things like parkour, not to mention the speed with which you need to navigate makes losing your aim very frustrating. Instead of nerfing the rifle even more (I think we've got it at a good balance between skill and fairness now) we should probably look at making other weapons more effective, or coming up with something that is a counter to a rifle.

All that being said, I really don't like the idea of creating weapons which duplicate some facet of a pre-existing weapon. Too many games have loads of weapons that essentially do the same thing, and RE focuses itself on being "pick-up-and-play" so the confusion factor behind a myriad of weapons is something I want to specifically avoid. You're more likely to see counterbalance weapons appear than anything (not a real example: freezer = the anti-flamer), though I've been thinking of rolling that in with the utility items which may appear in a later version of the game.
