[art] icons for new muts

As most of you know, there will be some new mutators in the next release, of which some are still missing an icon, in particular:
  • attack bomberball
  • marathon trial
  • endurance trial
  • gauntlet trial
Other muts that are using a "fallback" icon: hard (expert), classic (arena), FFA (team). These work pretty well, so there is not really a need to replace them.

I'm not an artist, and I don't have the scalable vector graphics of the icons, but I'd like to post some mockups for the trial specific muts. Those are really simple ones. If somebody can produce better ones, do not hesitate to share them ;)

These are cool, and I think the only improvement to them that i can suggest is for the timetrial endurance, make the center piece be just the battery + lightning symbol. I think that'd look better, scaled down like RE does them.

I fully agree, freezurbern.
That's why the svg source images would be useful: One could scale the battery up in a lossless manner. Another problem with my mashup is the right border of the pasted circle in the marathon icon.

did unnamed create most of them? perhaps he has some source images. i think the fist should be larger in gauntlet, and the suggestion for endurance seems good. as placeholders they are certainly better than nothing.

i noticed the defend and control icons still contain a flag, which may be outdated. but at this point there's hardly room to be picky, with so little that have the necessary skill and want to contribute

The icons are older, probably most were created by Jojo or Luckystrike, I don't know.
If you scale parts of the low res raster graphics, it looks quite terrible. It is trivial to do that, but I'll put it here so you can see how ugly it gets :mrgreen:

I made a svg of the battery. It does not look exactly like the old one. The fist would be more difficult.
Also I copied it into the timetrial icon:

Coop and classic need also new icons. I made this one for coop:

I have no ideas for a new classic icon and my attack-bb icon also is not good.
One team has to attack and the other one has to defend their base but this icon is not clear enough I think.

Yeah, the bot icons will be really hard to recognize when this coop icon is scaled to a small size. But the old icon from campaign mode is not that bad for coop, I don't know.
Attack-bb looks cool, but a bit "dense". Maybe the fist can be used again, as the mode is somehow similar to gauntlet? It is hard to think of an intuitive icon that still looks simple.

Would that be useful at all? The loading screen/hud elements use the icons of the recorded game, and in a help menu, you previously used the spectator icon, which seems perfectly fine in this context.

Coop idea: Player icon, flash or <--> arrow, bot icon
Attack-bb: Somehow all of unnamed's drafts are nice, I really don't know which works best :)

it's true it is not the best, another design is needed. but as a placeholder it makes more sense than the previous icon, some awards which i can't see how it has anything to do with co-op. instead of showing the bots wearing the bot badge perhaps the bot badge itself a little larger will suffice, with normal aliens pointing weapons at it. then it would be large enough to be visible as an icon.
