forum search

turn off "common words" being excluded from a search, if it's possible. can't find any old threads because every important word is... too common  search is kinda useless this way
For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. For every freedom, there is a new limit. For every joy, a new sorrow. For every act of kindness, an unspeakable cruelty. Where someone succeeds, someone else fails. A new association means a new separation. Loyalty meets treachery, honor breeds disgrace, free expression yields censorship. Each piece of knowledge forms new ignorance. Even death gives rise to new life. But the balance of existence is the beginning of wisdom and discernment.

Use advanced search or Google sitesearch. Enclose exact phrases in quotes (eg. "I want all of this text"). Use +term and -term to force search a search term on or off. Thus endeth the useless lesson.

yea, i'd already tried that. even using quotes or + it still ignores "common" search terms. yea, i can use google sure, but who knows if it indexes every page and if the forum has a search shouldn't it work?

Google's index of everything on redeclipse.net is pretty much updated on a daily basis as I use their webmaster tools to monitor site activity.

The default search settings are in place to reduce the risk of server overload. As we are a fairly small forum I have removed some of the restrictions, but allowing small/common words has increased the size of the search index almost exponentially. If it turns out that this has an adverse effect on the server I will have to revert it and insist people use sitesearch.
