[Bug] The materails only work on player's feet

The lava, death and other mats only take effect when the player's feet are inside them.

This was discussed in the past and it was determined that expanding the area would break existing maps.

As far as I can remember, it has always been like that.

While in your screenshot, it looks like something that should be fixed, I think it is just a matter of map design. For example, floating blocks of water or lava really don't work well anyway, since there is no visible texture for the lower bound of the material. And for death material, which has no implied visuals, it's just a matter of trial and error until you get the desired limits.

So yeah, this is weird, but it's not really a problem.

Yeah, this has been known quite a while.
This was even part of one of my race maps, Euphoria.
Like qreeves said, if the area got bigger, could break certain map designs.

I found this strange, in certain race maps its annoying when you just slip a feet a little and you die, while you can put head and body in laser traps etc without any result, why not move this "feet collide" somewhere in the middle of player ? and as for maps... all can be done (fixed/edited) easily

Necro the death material topic? Why not

Once again, lava material is meant to form pools and flat waterfalls... any other shape gets totally borked, also visually. But for a flat lava surface, the "feet" collision detection is exactly the expected behavior. If the trigger point was near the player's center of mass, you could wade through lava >_<

Death material may be a bit strange when creating maps, but everyone got used to it. And it is purely a problem of map design if the visual clues on the map do not fit with the actual death zones and save spots that result from your placement of death material. And no, it is not that easy to adapt this to a new collision rule for all official maps. And it is still nice not to break older custom maps.

Was already done by some other fixes.

But why not head and feet?

why not ? this too will break existing maps. But still I thought that sometimes you don't even touch a flat death surface and you'll die anyway, maybe this collide placement should be a little more moved up ? like between feet and knee ?
